UFC judge from Texas has been arrested on two counts of sexual assault on a minor

Recently, 49-year-old Robert Griffin Alexander was taken into custody on felony counts of aggravated sexual assault with a minor and sexual contact indecency with a child.

MMA Junkie has obtained court documents from the 10th District Court in Galveston County which state that Alexander was detained by a Galveston County Sheriff at 2:30 on the afternoon of October 14. The bond for each of his charges was set at $40,000, and he was put into the Galveston County Jail. The scheduled date for the bond hearing is November 29.

On October 13, indictments were submitted by a grand jury in Galveston County.

Alexander is accused of committing serious sexual assault, a crime punishable by life in prison.

“intentionally or knowingly caused the sexual organ of (Censored), a child who was then and there younger than 14 years of age, to contact or penetrate the mouth”

The indictment states that on or about January 1, 2010, Alexander committed the second-degree felony of indecency with a child by touching the genitalia of a minor.

Sexual offenses are not subject to any sort of time limit in Texas.

According to his profile on the GAMMA website, Alexander is a certified MMA referee since 2011 after taking John McCarthy’s COMMAND school and working as an aerospace engineer. He holds valid certifications from the Alabama Athletic Commission, the Tennessee State Athletic Commission, and the Texas Department of Licensing and Registration. He has done work for the likes of the UFC, Bellator, LFA, and a slew of regional programs.

In Texas, Alexander has served as a judge for several Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) events. At UFC 271, he issued a contentious, dissenting 29-28 score in favor of Roxanne Modafferi in her split decision loss to Casey O’Neill, which was later overturned. Based on information from MMA Decisions, Alexander also judged a fight at UFC 265 in 2021 and two fights at UFC 247
