So it seems like Rafael dos Anjos has returned to the welterweight division. According to Combate, at UFC Orlando, the Brazilian will be facing Bryan Barberena, a brawler, in his first bout back at the heavier weight class since 2020.
Dos Anjos (31-14) was knocked out in his most recent fight, in July, by promising lightweight Rafael Fiziev. His two-fight winning streak, which included decision victories over Renato Moicano and Paul Felder, came to an end with this defeat. In January of 2020, ‘RDA’ lost a unanimous decision against Michael Chiesa at welterweight.
Barberena (18-8) is looking to extend his current winning run to four by defeating another veteran to add to his victories over Robbie Lawler, Matt Brown, and Darian Weeks. The majority decision loss to Jason Witt in July of 2021 was the 33-year-most old’s recent defeat.
As a result, Dos Anjos and Barberena are scheduled to fight on December 3 at UFC Fight Night 216 in Orlando, Florida.
