Rodriguez stated that she and Lemos will not be competing at UFC 280, the forthcoming pay-per-view event set for Oct. 22 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. According to reports, Rodriguez vs. Lemos will take place at a UFC Fight Night on November 5; the event’s location and venue are still to be confirmed. The event has yet to have a headliner named, so stay tuned.
Rodriguez won four in a row after suffering her first UFC defeat at UFC Fight Island 3 via split decision to Carla Esparza, the newly crowned champion. The Brazilian knocked out Amanda Ribas in the second round and has since won by decision against Michelle Waterson-Gomez, Mackenzie Dern, and Yan Xiaonan.
A five-fight winning streak for Lemos was ended in April at UFC Vegas 52, when Jessica Andrade submitted her with a standing arm-triangle choke in the first round. The representative of the Marajó Brothers Team got back on track with a victory after being submitted by perennial challenger Michelle Waterson-Gomez at UFC Long Island in July.
