In October, two middleweight contenders in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Jared Cannonier and Sean Strickland, will meet in an attempt to get back on track.
For UFC Fight Night on October 15, Cannonier (15-6 MMA, 8-6 UFC) and Strickland (25-4 MMA, 12-4 UFC) have verbally agreed to a five-round main event. The event’s location and venue have not been revealed, but it is expected to take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
Ariel Helwani broke the story, and he mentioned that contracts haven’t been signed yet.
Cannonier, ranked fourth in the middleweight division in the most recent USA Today Sports/MMA Junkie rankings, will want to bounce back from his loss to Israel Adesanya at UFC 276 in July.
On October 15, UFC Fight Night will feature the following fighters:
- Jared Cannonier vs. Sean Strickland
- Viviane Araujo vs. Alexa Grasso
