The Octagon will be shared by Calvin Kattar and Arnold Allen on October 29 at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas. Both fighters have consented to the arrangement. The signing of the contracts is anticipated to take place very shortly.
Kattar has already made two appearances and has a record of 1-1. At UFC Vegas 46 in January of this year, the “Boston Finisher” had a strong performance against Giga Chikadze. This victory marked the beginning of the year 2022. At UFC Austin, he faced Josh Emmett again for a bout that might have been a contender for the No. 1 spot, but he ended up losing the fight via a contentious split decision. Because of his efforts against Chikadze and Emmett, Kattar was awarded the “Fight of the Night” bonus on multiple occasions in a row.
At the UFC London event in March, Allen defeated Dan Hooker via first-round technical knockout to move his record in the UFC to 9-0. ‘Almighty’ and his activities in the Octagon have been hindered as a result of lingering injuries and fight cancellations, but he had high hopes of becoming more active in the future. After his victory over Hooker, he made a specific request for Kattar, so he can make a good first impression.
“I want to be in the top five and I think he’s top five,” said Allen.
“That’s a fight that would put me there. We got offered that fight for a main event spot last year or earlier in the year, but I was out with injury. I think it works really good. He’s less tall than this guy, so that works out. He’s predominantly a boxer, I’m predominantly a boxer, so it’s a fan-friendly fight and I think I’m the better boxer.”
