The two bantamweight competitors will meet on December 17 in a UFC Fight Night event at a date and venue to be revealed.
According to two sources familiar with the pairing, MMA Junkie was informed of the booking on Wednesday, who requested anonymity because the promotion had not yet made a formal announcement.
Morozov (18-5 MMA, 2-2 UFC) won a unanimous decision over Raulian Paiva in June to bounce back from a heartbreaking loss to Douglas Silva de Andrade. He improved to 2-1 in his last three games with the victory.
In May, Newson (10-3 MMA, 1-2 UFC) ended a three-fight losing streak with a unanimous decision victory against Fernie Garcia. It was Newson’s first ever win in the Ultimate Fighting Championship thanks to his performance. In 2020, under the UFC banner, Newson knocked out Domingo Pilarte, but the result was reversed to a no contest because of a positive drug test.
