At UFC 280, Sean O’Malley will be seeking to step up to the challenge, anticipating a victory after putting on a striking masterclass against one of the best fighters in the division former champion Petr Yan.
In the days leading up to the bout, O’Malley (15-1 MMA, 7-1-1 NC UFC) gained more and more confidence, convinced that Yan (16-3 MMA, 8-2 UFC) has no chance of getting close enough to land a hit.
Tweeting ‘I’ll be surprised if I get hit once’ ahead of the Oct. 22 matchup.
After losing to Aljamain Sterling via split decision at UFC 273, Yan will be attempting to get back on track and win the bantamweight championship for Russia. O’Malley has never faced anyone ranked in the top five at bantamweight, but he will face the hardest competition of his career against the current UFC bantamweight champion.
Next month, on October 22, UFC 280 will take place at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, with Yan vs. O’Malley as the main event.
