UFC Fight Night 211 was scheduled for October 1 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, but Garbrandt (12-5 MMA, 7-5 UFC) will instead face Rani Yahya (28-10-1 MMA, 13-4-1 UFC) instead. The future of Garbrandt’s inclusion on the card is uncertain.
Originally scheduled for UFC on ESPN 39 on July 9, Garbrandt and Yahya’s bout was canceled when Yahya suffered a neck injury. A new date of October 1 was set for the fight, but it has been postponed once more.
After getting knocked out by Kai Kara-France at UFC 269 in December, Garbrandt was planning to make a return to 135 pounds. Ex-bantamweight champion has dropped five of his last six bouts. A knockout victory over Raphael Assuncao in June 2020 was his only victory during that time period.
Those are back-to-back victories for Yahya. In March of 2021, he submitted Ray Rodriguez, and in November of same year, he won a unanimous decision against Kyung-Ho Kang.
