Before facing Aljamain Sterling, Merab Dvalishvili is willing to switch divisions.
When asked if he would fight for the UFC bantamweight championship if he beats Jose Aldo at UFC 278 on Aug. 20, Dvalishvili said he was open to the idea, but that his training partner Sterling is now the division’s champion.
The rising Georgia star knows it would be a tough cut, but if he can’t land a big-name opponent at 135 pounds, he would consider moving up to flyweight.
I’ll go to 125 if I die trying to save myself.
The co-main event of UFC 280 takes place on Oct. 22 and features a rematch between champion Conor McGregor and TJ Dillashaw.
When Dvalishvili said it, the only thing on his mind was Jose Aldo.
