DALLAS – For the first time in his UFC career, Magomed Ankalaev is on a run, and he plans to keep it rolling.
At UFC 277 on Saturday night, No. 12 in the USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie rankings for light heavyweights fights No. 10 Anthony Smith, a former title contender. No. 12 wants to make it nine wins in a row.
At the media day on Wednesday, Ankalaev told reporters, “I’ll make sure to go all out.” After beating Smith (36-16 MMA, 11-6 UFC), Ankalaev may potentially face champion Jiri Prochazka or the winner of the Prochazka-Glover Teixeira rematch should that fight be scheduled.
I’m in a battle with Anthony.
