An illegal strike was utilized by Ciryl Gane in the finishing of Tai Tuivasa on Saturday at UFC Fight Night 209, and the former UFC heavyweight champion used Twitter on Sunday morning to call out Gane.
In the main event, Gane knocked off Tuivasa in the third round following a tense battle. The final scene depicts Gane delivering a right hammerfist to Tuivasa’s back of the skull. After seeing the replay, Michael Bisping, the cageside commentator, said the blow was to the “back of the head.”
Dos Santos was defeated by Gane at UFC 256 in December 2020, and he blamed a blow to the back of the head for the loss. As he watched the Tuivasa bout, he became increasingly dissatisfied.
“What a dirty fighter this Gane is,” Dos Santos tweeted.
“Again hitting the back of the head. And now what are those ‘fight experts’ will say about it?”
