Dan Hooker plans to fight a rising UFC star at lightweight to revive his career.
On November 12 at UFC 281 in New York, the UFC veteran will make his return to the division with a match against Claudio Puelles.
Hooker, who is 21-12 overall in MMA and 11-8 in the UFC, most recently lost by knockout to Arnold Allen in March. This bout marked his return to competitive MMA after a six-year layoff, and his first at the featherweight class. The 32-year-old Hooker has gone winless in three of his previous five fights inside the Octagon. In September of 2021, he won a unanimous decision over Nasrat Haqparast, his lone victory during that time.
With a record of 12-2 in MMA and 5-1 in the UFC, Puelles is hungry to maintain his upward trajectory in the organization. The Peruvian competitor has won their last five bouts, and three of those victories came via submission with a kneebar. In April, Puelles participated for the last time and won a $50,000 bonus for submitting veteran Clay Guida, making him the night’s top overall performer.
