Cyborg, the reigning Bellator women’s featherweight champion, is set to make her professional boxing debut against Simone Silva on September 25 in Brazil at Fight Music Show 2. The fight will be Cyborg’s second in 2022, following her majority decision victory against Arlene Blencowe at Bellator 279 to defend her aforementioned title. It’s something Cyborg has wanted to accomplish for a long time, and she disclosed her plans during the post-fight news conference following her victory over Blencowe in April.
However, what happens after she walks into the boxing ring is unknown. While she is presently the Bellator champion, Cyborg is unsure how long she will remain with the organization. However, based on how business is currently being managed, she is certain that a return to the UFC is not in the cards.
“That chapter is closed,” Cyborg said.
“They really don’t want to make the fights they want me to make, and they really don’t want to pay the fighters. So, if they start to pay the fighters, then maybe we can sit down, but I believe I have to think about my future than just think about my ego.”
