Ciryl Gane defeated Tai Tuivasa via first-round knockout at Saturday’s main event of UFC Fight Night 209 in Paris, France. Gane (11-1 MMA, 8-1 UFC) got the knockout, but not without putting up a fight. The Frenchman had to ride out a severe storm after being downed by Tuivasa in the second round of their fight and eventually coming back to win.
Tuivasa is the toughest hitter Gane has ever faced, and that’s saying something considering he’s gone up against the likes of Francis Ngannou, Derrick Lewis, and Junior Dos Santos.
“Ngannou never touched me during the fight, so it’s impossible to compare. But today, Tai Tuivasa touched me. Francis Ngannou can touch very well. That’s not a question. But today, (Tai Tuivasa) was the first guy to put me on my ass.”
