It has been said that Nickal is destined for greatness in the ring by the Bellator featherweight contender and wrestling superstar. Two swift victories in Dana White’s Contender Series led to Nickal’s recent recruitment to the UFC, where he now sports a pristine 3-0 record in mixed martial arts. Pico (10-3 MMA, 10-3 BMMA) says the excitement around Nickal’s UFC debut is well-founded.
“If anyone can beat Khamzat right now, I really think Bo Nickal can do it,” Pico said.
“People will think I’m crazy, but he’s a very good wrestler.”
Pico not only predicts that Nickal will become UFC champion before the conclusion of his career (despite only having three fights under his belt), but also predicts that Nickal will defeat a top contender in Chimaev.
Nickal is expected to make his MMA debut on December 10 against Jamie Pickett at UFC 282. Pico warns Nickal against skipping the necessary stages of development in his career, which, in his opinion, won’t be around for very long.
“I think probably a few more fights, but I don’t think it’s going to take him long,” Pico said.
“I really don’t, the way he’s wired, he’s really going to figure out what he needs to do. … If you put Khamzat and Bo Nickal in a wrestling match, Bo Nickal would ‘tech’ him. There would be no contest.
“If you had Khamzat and Bo Nickal wrestle, it would be an easy day for Bo Nickal. He just needs to brush up on a few things, get some more experience. I don’t think he should rush it, and he’ll be ready.”
Pico faces Jeremy Kennedy, Saturday on the main card of Bellator 286.
