LAS VEGAS – After five straight UFC victories, Augusto Sakai became a heavyweight sensation.
Alistair Overeem knocked him out in the fifth round in September 2020. When he was knocked out by Jairzinho Rozenstruik in 2021, he slipped down. He was knocked out later that year by Tai Tuivasa.
In the co-main event of UFC on ESPN 40, Sakai (15-4-1 MMA, 4-3 UFC) takes on Serghei Spivac (14-3 MMA, 5-3 UFC). The card will be shown on ESPN and ESPN+.
At Wednesday’s media day, Sakai said he’d made changes to his preparation for Spivac. Is he going to snap his skid?
