A.J. McKee, Patricio Freire on weight in San Jose – Boxing.org

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The highly anticipated featherweight title rematch if official for Bellator 277.

Champion A.J. McKee (18-0 MMA, 18-0 BMMA) and former champ, now challenger Patricio Freire (32-5 MMA, 20-5 BMMA) made weight without issue for Friday’s headliner Thursday in San Jose, Calif.

McKee was the first fighter to the scale in the two-hour official weigh-in window at the host hotel. He weighed in at 144.4 pounds. Freire came to the scale not long after and was 144.6 to finalize the rematch.

McKee submitted Freire early in the first round in their first meeting in 2021 to win the title and the Bellator featherweight grand prix. Now Freire has a shot at redemption in the rematch Friday at SAP Center in San Jose, Calif. The main card airs on Showtime following prelims on MMA Junkie.

Check out the highlights from their trips to the scale in the video above.
